A synthetic nonapeptide analog of naturally occurring gonadotropin-releasing hormone; used in the palliative treatment of advanced prostatic cancer.

leu·pro·lide ace·tate (loo-proґlīd) a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue used as an antineoplastic in the palliative treatment of advanced prostatic carcinoma; it is also used in the treatment of endometriosis and central precocious puberty. As an adjunct to iron, it is used preoperatively to improve anemia caused by uterine leiomyomas. Administered subcutaneously and intramuscularly.
