lev·i·ta·tion (lev″ĭ-taґshən) [L. levis light] 1. a hallucinatory sensation of floating or rising in the air. 2. a support system for severe burn victims, consisting of a bed in the form of an inflatable chamber containing numerous outlets through which humidified, warm, sterile air is released at a pressure sufficient to raise the patient and give support in a sterile air environment.
