meth·a·cryl·ic ac·id (meth″ə-krilґik) an organic acid, 2-methylpropenoic acid, that polymerizes easily to form a ceramic-like mass. Its esters, methyl and polymethyl methacrylate, are used in the manufacture of acrylic resins and plastics.
