A genus of saprophytic fungi (class Zygomycetes, family Mucoraceae) commonly found in nature; pathogenicity doubtful.

Mor·ti·e·rel·la (mor″te-ə-relґə) a genus of fungi of the family Mortierellaceae, characterized by the lack of a columella and branched, tapering sporangiophores. It occasionally causes indolent human mucormycosis.
