A sarcoma, usually a liposarcoma or malignant fibrous histiocytoma, with an abundant component of myxoid tissue resembling primitive mesenchyme containing connective tissue mucin. SYN: myxoma sarcomatosum. [myxo- + G. sarx, flesh, + -oma, tumor]

a sarcoma containing mucoid material; it is the malignant counterpart of a myxoma. It is doubtful whether myxosarcoma represents a true entity and it may be simply a variant of other sarcomas, such as a liposarcoma or a fibrosarcoma, with which it shares clinical features.
