A radioisotope of calcium, particularly calcium-45.

ra·dio·cal·ci·um (ra″de-o-kalґse-əm) any of several radioactive isotopes of calcium. The isotopes 45Ca, with a half-life of 163 days and emitting beta particles of energy 0.255 MeV, and 47Ca, with a half-life of 4.54 days and emitting beta particles of energy 1.98 and 0.67 MeV and gamma rays of energy 1.30, 0.81, and 0.49 MeV, have been used as tracers in the study of calcium metabolism.
