scopolia
The dried rhizome and roots of S. carniolica (family Solanaceae), a herb of Austria and neighboring countries of Europe; it resembles belladonna in pharmacologic action. [G.A. Scopoli, Italian naturalist, 1723–1788]

Sco·po·lia (sko-poґle-ə) [Johann-Antoni Scopoli, Italian physician, 1723–1788] a genus of plants of the family Solanaceae. S. carnioґlica atropoiґdes Jacq., a European species, and S. japoґnica and S. luґrida, Asian species, contain scopolamine and their rhizomes and roots have properties like those of hyoscyamus and belladonna.
