strep·to·zo·cin (strep″to-zoґsin) an antineoplastic antibiotic of the nitrosourea (q.v.) group, derived from Streptomyces achromogenes or produced by synthesis; used principally in the treatment of islet cell tumors as well as other endocrine tumors such as gastrinomas associated with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and glucagonomas.
