Ta·rax·a·cum (tə-rakґsə-kəm) [L., from Ar. tarakhshaqūn wild chicory] a widespread genus of perennial weedy herbs of the family Compositae, having long taproots, toothed leaves, and usually yellow flowers. T. officinaґle, the dandelion, is used medicinally.
