The disodium salt of 6-(α-carboxy-α-thien-3-ylacetamido)penicillanic acid; a bactericidal antibiotic useful in treating Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections and similar in effect to carbenicillin disodium.

[USP] the disodium salt of ticarcillin, used primarily in the treatment of severe systemic infections, septicemia, and infections of the genitourinary tract, the respiratory tract, or the soft tissues due to susceptible strains of bacteria; administered intramuscularly or intravenously.
