Tra·chi·pleis·toph·o·ra (tra-kĭ-plīs-tofґə-rə) a genus of parasitic protozoa (suborder Pansporoblastina, order Microsporida), usually found in the muscles of tropical freshwater fish; they have been found in immunocompromised persons, causing microsporidiosis with myositis.
