VIPoma
An endocrine tumor, usually originating in the pancreas, which produces a vasoactive intestinal polypeptide believed to cause profound cardiovascular and electrolyte changes with vasodilatory hypotension, watery diarrhea, hypokalemia, and dehydration. a usually malignant tumour of islet cells of the pancreas that secrete VIP. The presence of excess amounts of this hormone causes severe diarrhoea ('pancreatic cholera' or the Verner-Morrison syndrome), with loss of potassium and bicarbonate and a low level of stomach acid. The treatment is surgical removal of the tumour.

VIP·oma (vĭ-poґmə) [vasoactive intestinal polypeptide + -oma] an endocrine tumor, usually a type of islet cell tumor, that produces excessive vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, causing severe diarrhea and other symptoms of the Verner-Morrison syndrome. Called also diarrheogenic tumor. Written also vipoma.
