Overgrowth syndromes
Conditions with multiple abnormalities including excessive growth. Early overgrowth syndromes that affecting children include the fragile X and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndromes. Overactivity of the pituitary gland with overproduction of growth hormone causes overgrowth before adolescence and a distinctive pattern of overgrowth called acromegaly.
