Bence-Jones Henry (1814-1873)
British physician. In 1848 Bence-Jones published an article announcing his discovery of a special protein (now known as Bence-Jones protein) in the urine of patients suffering from softening of the bones. The first physician to note the occurrence of xanthine in urine, Bence-Jones was also a recognized authority on diseases of the stomach and kidneys.
