Cim·i·cif·u·ga (sim″ĭ-sifґu-gə) [L. cimex bug + fugare to put to flight] a genus of plants of the family Ranunculaceae. C. racemoґsa (L.) Nutt. is the black snakeroot or cohosh and has rootlets that are tonic and antispasmodic.
