a drug administered by mouth to relieve depression, especially when associated with anxiety (see antidepressant); side-effects can include drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, and digestive upsets. It is also applied topically to relieve itching associated with eczema. Trade names: Sinequan, Xepin.
