Luschka Hubert von (1820-1875)
German anatomist. Luschka was the author of a notable textbook of human anatomy, which was published in three volumes from 1863 to 1869. In 1873 he described the anatomy and physiology of the larynx. He produced classic descriptions of the pharyngeal bursa and a small cartilaginous nodule in the anterior part of the vocal cord. He is also remembered for his classic descriptions of polyposis of the colon in 1861 and of the lateral openings in the fourth ventricle of the brain (now known as the foramina of Luschka) around 1863.
