an infectious disease caused by Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, which is transmitted during sexual intercourse. A pimply rash on and around the genital organs develops into a granulomatous ulcer. The disease responds to treatment with tetracyclines and streptomycin.

a chronic, slowly progressive, ulcerative granulomatous disease, spread by uncleanliness and sometimes by sexual transmission, seen in the tropics and subtropics. It is caused by Klebsiella granulomatis and primarily involves the skin and lymphatics of the anogenital region; sometimes it spreads to the adjacent perineal or inguinal regions. Called also donovanosis, g. pudendi, g. venereum, and pudendal ulcer.
