the study or practice of the legal aspects of medicine. See forensic medicine.

the application of the principles of law as they relate to the practice of medicine, to the obligations of the practitioner to the patient, and to the relations of physicians to each other and to society in general. This term and forensic medicine are sometimes used as synonyms, but some authorities consider the first a branch of law and the second a branch of medicine.
