mi·cro·pino·cy·to·sis (mi″kro-pin″o-si-toґsis) the taking up into a cell of specific macromolecules by invagination of the plasma membrane which is then pinched off, resulting in small vesicles in the cytoplasm; cf. macropinocytosis.
