occipital crest
occipital crest n either of the two ridges on the occipital bone connecting the occipital protuberances and foramen magnum:
a) a median ridge on the outer surface of the occipital bone that with the external occipital protuberance gives attachment to the ligamentum nuchae called also external occipital crest, median nuchal line
b) a median ridge similarly situated on the inner surface of the occipital bone that bifurcates near the foramen magnum to give attachment to the falx cerebelli called also internal occipital crest
