Pou·part pü-pȧr François (1661-1709)
French surgeon and naturalist. In 1695 Poupart provided a more extensive description of the inguinal ligament, giving it new significance by showing its relationship to hernia. As a naturalist he did research on invertebrates including locusts, slugs, leeches, worms, and mussels.
