a bright red to purple, smooth, dome-shaped lesion representing a telangiectatic vascular disturbance, usually found on the trunk or proximal end of a limb; these are common in elderly persons, but the onset may be earlier in adult life. Called also capillary a., De Morgan spot, and senile a.
