mouthwash test

mouthwash test
a simple noninvasive procedure that enables the detection of carrier for single gene defects, e.g. cystic fibrosis. Epithelial cells from the buccal cavity are obtained from a saline mouthwash: from these it is possible to isolate DNA, which is amplified by the polymerase chain reaction to enable gene analysis.
