aquaporin
aqua·po·rin (ak″wə-poґrin) any of a family of proteins, composed of four identical 28-kD subunits surrounding a central, water-permeable pore and found in the plasma membranes of plant and animal cells, that permit passage of water and very small solutes. Called also water channel.
