bu·ten·a·fine hy·dro·chlo·ride (bu-tenґə-fēn) an antifungal that blocks the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of cell membranes in fungi; used topically in the treatment of tinea pedis, tinea corporis, and tinea cruris.
