[TA] conducting system of heart: a system of specialized muscle fibers that generate and rapidly transmit cardiac impulses and serve to coordinate contractions, comprising the sinoatrial node, atrioventricular node, bundle of His and its right and left bundle branches, and the subendocardial branches (rami subendocardiales) of Purkinje fibers. Called also systema conducens cordis [TA alternative].
