alveolar hydatid cyst

alveolar hydatid cyst
a hydatid cyst with multiple loculi (small irregular cavities) that may contain scolices but generally little fluid; it is formed by larvae of Echinococcus multilocularis and tends to enlarge by budding since it has a poorly developed hyaline cuticle. Called also multilocular hydatid c. See alveolar hydatid disease, under disease.
