malnutrition-related diabetes mellitus
(MRDM) a rare type of diabetes mellitus associated with chronic malnutrition and characterized by beta-cell failure, insulinopenia, insulin resistance, and moderate to severe hyperglycemia, but without ketosis. Called also tropical or tropical pancreatic d. mellitus.
