discospondylitis
dis·co·spon·dy·li·tis (dis″ko-spon″də-liґtis) [disco- + spondylitis] inflammation of intervertebral disks in animals, often with osteomyelitis of adjacent vertebrae, caused by a bacterial infection or occasionally trauma. Resultant compression of the spinal cord can cause paralysis. It is most commonly seen in adult dogs but also affects pigs, horses, and cattle.
