a highly fatal disease caused by a togavirus, affecting sheep on the English-Welsh border, as well as in Australia and New Zealand (where it is called hairy shaker d.); it is manifested by increased hair in the fleece, slow growth, diminished stature, abnormal head shape, and a swaying gait.
