right displacement of the abomasum

right displacement of the abomasum
(RDA) displacement of the abomasum of a cow to the right, with abomasal atony, usually soon after birth of a calf; it is sometimes due to obstruction of the pylorus. Symptoms include anorexia, drop in milk production, and a palpable fluid-filled organ on the right flank. It may progress to abomasal torsion, an emergency situation.
