entomophthoromycosis
en·to·moph·tho·ro·my·co·sis (en″tə-mof″thə-ro-mi-koґsis) 1. any disease caused by fungi of the order Entomophthorales; human infections are usually in apparently physiologically and immunologically normal individuals, although opportunistic infections also occur. See also basidiobolomycosis and conidiobolomycosis. 2. infection of the skin, oral mucosa, or nasal mucosa of horses by fungi of the order Entomophthorales, causing nodules or ulcerative granulomatous lesions. It is sometimes confused with cutaneous habronemiasis or pythiosis. See also swamp cancer.
