fascin

fascin
fas·cin (fasґin) any of a family of actin-binding proteins that participate in the formation of a variety of protrusions, such as filopodia and dendrites, and in the formation of cytoplasmic actin bundles. Fascins are expressed by the nervous system and by tissue derived from the mesenchyme; in epithelium, they are normally absent or expressed at low levels but are overexpressed in several types of carcinoma.
