pulse generator
1. a physiologic mechanism that yields regular pulses of a hormone or other substance within the body. 2. an apparatus that delivers regular pulses of electricity for therapeutic purposes. 3. the power source for an artificial cardiac pacemaker system, usually fueled by lithium, supplying impulses to the implanted electrodes, either at a fixed rate or in some programmed pattern.
