hemichrome

he·mi·chrome (heґmĭ-krōm) an oxidized derivative of methemoglobin in which a functional group of globin has replaced the normal water substituent of the heme; it precipitates readily, aggregating to form Heinz bodies and ultimately causing cell lysis.
