pleuroperitoneal hiatus
hiatus pleuroperitonealis a posterolateral opening in the fetal diaphragm; its failure to close leaves a congenital posterolateral defect that may become a site for a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Called also foramen of Bochdalek.
