greatly elevated levels of Lp(a) lipoprotein in plasma, an autosomal dominant trait caused by mutation in the LPA gene (locus: 6q27) and characterized by increased incidence of severe arteriosclerosis of coronary and carotid vessels, atherogenesis, and cutaneous and tendinous xanthomas.
