imatinib mesylate
im·at·i·nib mes·y·late (ĭ-măґtĭ-nib″) a type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor that acts specifically on an abnormal tyrosine kinase that has been created by the Philadelphia chromosome abnormality and is constitutively present in chronic myeloid leukemia. It is used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia during blast crisis, accelerated phase, or chronic phase after failure of interferon-α therapy, administered orally.
