oxygenation index
(OI) a measure of the efficiency or impairment of oxygenation of the blood, expressed by the formula

where FIO2 = functional concentration of oxygen; MAP = mean arterial pressure; and PO2 = the partial pressure of oxygen. Values above 40 are life-threatening.
