algid malaria
a severe complication of falciparum malaria caused by a collapse of the vascular system and manifested by shock, syncope, peripheral vascular failure, hypotension, cold, clammy skin, and gastrointestinal symptoms, diarrhea, and vomiting, which is sometimes followed by coma and death.
