leading circle model

leading circle model
in cardiology, a multidimensional model of reentry that describes the cycle of alternating tissue activation and refractoriness in terms of a functional, rather than anatomical, intertissue interface acting as a barrier around which the wavefronts circle. In the model, their pathway is the smallest circuit in which the head of each wavefront is just within the tail of that preceding and thus is able to excite tissue still in its relative refractory period.
