olfactory neuroblastoma

olfactory neuroblastoma
a rare, slow-growing, malignant tumor of neuroectodermal origin that begins in neuroepithelial cells of the olfactory membrane. The tumor appears primarily in the nasal cavity and nasopharynx of adults as a painful swelling and eventually may spread to the sinuses, palate, orbit, and brain. Called also esthesioneuroblastoma.
