sensory neuronopathy

sensory neuronopathy
degeneration of peripheral sensory neurons in the dorsal root ganglia, with inflammation and infiltration by lymphocytes, characterized by pain and numbness that begins in the limbs and may advance to the trunk and face. It may be a complication of an autoimmune condition, heavy metal poisoning, or certain cancers, especially small cell lung carcinoma.
