- nucleus gigantocellularis [TA] either of a symmetrical pair of large medial column reticular nuclei located in the superior part of the medulla oblongata and the posterior part of the pons, lateral to the nucleus raphes magnus and inferior to the caudal pontine reticular nucleus; its neurons are serotoninergic. Called also gigantocellular intermediate reticular n. and gigantocellular reticular n.
