ommatidium
om·ma·tid·i·um (om″ə-tidґe-əm) pl. ommatidґia [Gr. dim. of omma eye] one of the units of the compound eye of arthropods, itself complete with all the functional and structural elements of the eye (including lens, retina, photoreceptor cells).
