piezogenic papules

piezogenic papules
transitory, large, soft papules appearing above the heel on the side of one or both feet; they are not inflammatory but are often painful and are elicited by weight bearing with prolonged standing or running. The cause is thought to be temporary herniation of fat tissue and its blood vessels and nerves through connective tissue defects. The papules disappear when pressure is removed. Called also painful fat herniation and painful piezogenic pedal p's.
