juvenile paralysis agitans
juvenile paralysis agitans (of Hunt) a condition developing in early life, usually familial but occasionally occurring sporadically, marked by increased muscle tonus with the characteristic attitude and facies of paralysis agitans, due to progressive degeneration of the globus pallidus; involvement of the substantia nigra and pyramidal tracts may occur. Called also paleostriatal syndrome, pallidal atrophy, pallidal syndrome, and Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
