inherited spastic paresis
a hereditary condition seen in calves during the first year of life, characterized by excessive tonic contractions of the gastrocnemius muscle of first one and later both of the hind legs, with rigidity of the hocks so that the animal is lame and because of lack of exercise fails to gain weight. Called also Elso heel.
