Pax·il·lus (pak-silґəs) a genus of mushrooms of the family Agaricaceae. P. involuґtus is considered edible but can cause gastroenteritis and in some individuals causes systemic reactions including syncope, hemoglobinuria, and decreased haptoglobins in the blood.
